Republication of Extractive Industries qualification
National Diploma in Extractive Industries (Management) with strands in Surface Extraction, and Underground Extraction [Ref: 0806]
The New Zealand Extractive Industries Training Organisation (EXITO) has republished the qualification listed above to update the transition arrangements in the version published in December 2009.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.
Reason for the republication
EXITO republished this qualification in order extend the last date of assessment for version 2 of the qualification from December 2011 to December 2014 to ensure that all existing trainees will have enough time to complete their training programmes.
Main changes resulting from the republication
The last date of assessment for version 2 of this qualification has been extended to 31 December 2014. Trainees enrolled on programmes leading to award of version 2 must complete the requirements for the compulsory unit standard 11627 before its expiry date of 31 December 2012. EXITO will assist trainees to ensure they meet this requirement. Elective standards 7450, 7452, and 21157 can only be used towards version 2 if their requirements are met before their expiry date of 31 December 2011. Details of the reverse transition arrangements for expiring first aid unit standard 6400 within version 2 were added to the qualification.
Changes to structure and content
· The last date of assessment for version 2 was extended to 31 December 2014.
· Details of the reverse transition arrangements for expiring first aid unit standard 6400 within version 2 were added to the qualification.
· Guidance and instruction relating to expiring unit standards in version 2 was added to the transition information.
· There were no changes to structure and content.
· The version number of the qualification remains the same.
Transition
People currently working towards version 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 3 of the qualification.
Version 2 contains a standard that has been replaced by later standards. Reverse transition has been included in the qualification, and people can complete the qualification using either expiring standards or replacement standards.
For the purpose of version 2, people who have gained credit for the replacement standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring standard - see table below.

In addition, version 2 contains standards that are due to expire prior to the last date for assessment of that version.
