Revision of Parks and Recreation qualification

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
This qualification was revised to take account of the review of the Parks and Recreation and Ecological Management unit standards completed in August 2010. The Parks and Recreation unit standards were reclassified to the Parks and Reserves domain as part of that review. As a result, the National Certificate in Parks and Recreation (Park Ranger) (Level 3) was also reclassified to the Parks and Reserves domain.

Changes to structure and content
· the qualification was reclassified and the title of the qualification was changed to National Certificate in Parks Reserves (Park Ranger) (Level 3)
· the credit total for the qualification decreased from 75 to 71
· the purpose statement was updated
· standard titles, levels, and credits were updated to reflect changes made at review
· expiring standards 7454 and 18310 were removed from the qualification
· the expiring Core Health standards 6400, 6401 and 6402 were replaced by the First Aid standards 26551 and 26552 in the Compulsory
· expiring standard 6915 was replaced by standard 26542 in the Elective
· the minimum credit requirement at Level 3 or above in the Elective was increased from 12 to 14 credits to ensure the qualification met requirements for a Level 3 qualification
· exemptions were added for replaced standards.
Transition
All existing candidates may complete version 1 of this qualification or transfer their results to version 2. The last date for assessment to take place for version 1 of this qualification is December 2012.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
