Summary
Careerforce recently reviewed the classifications used for unit standards for which it is the standard setting body. The review resulted in the registration of the new subfield Health, Disability, and Aged Support, and a number of new domains.
The revision and review of the unit standards listed above was part of the migration of unit standards from lapsing (expiring) domains to these newly registered domains.
Prior to the classification review, a review of the National Certificate in Community Support Services (Foundation Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 1291] and the National Certificate in Community Support Services (Core Competencies) (Level 3) [Ref: 1327] was undertaken. Unit standards 20824 and 23386, which are included in these qualifications, were identified as requiring major changes and were reviewed.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Titles of unit standards 20827, 20829, 23380, 23454, 23685, 23686, 23920 and 23925 were updated to more clearly specify their main outcomes.
· Language and terminology within the unit standards was revised where desirable or necessary to improve clarity and consistency.
· Definitions, references, New Zealand Standards, codes and legislation were updated in the explanatory notes.
· References to a ‘service delivery plan' were updated to the more generic and encompassing term ‘service plan'.
· Unit standards 5012, 20827, 20829, 23382, 23383, 23385, 23388, 23390, 23391, 23452, 23454, 23685 and 23925 were reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Community Support Services.
· Unit standards 1836, 20826, 20830, 23380, 23384, 23389, 23392, 23393, 23451, 23453, 23686, 23926 and 25987 were reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Health and Disability Principles in Practice.
· Unit standards 23387, 23920, 23921, 23922 and 23923 were reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Older Persons' Health and Wellbeing.
· Unit standards 24655, 24656, 24657 and 24659 were reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Disability Support Assessment, Planning, and Coordination to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Community Support Services.
· Unit standard 1828 was reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Supporting People with Disabilities.
· Unit standard 1810 was reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Whānau Ora and Community Support.
· Unit standard 23374 was reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Core Health.
· Unit standard 5013 was reclassified from Health > Health Studies > Core Health to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Community Support Services.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 20824 was replaced by unit standard 27104.
· Title of unit standard 23386 was updated to more clearly specify the main outcome and it was reclassified from Community and Social Services > Community Support > Community Support Services to Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Community Support Services.
The Category C unit standard will expire at the end of December 2012
