Summary
This review was undertaken as part of the ITO's planned review programme.
Amendments to these unit standards were based on comments received from the industry as a result of an extensive consultation and feedback process. Review teams, comprising industry representatives and the Fire and Rescue Services Industry Training Organisation's Training Advisory Group, considered the comments and endorsed the changes that were made.
The focus of the review was on quality improvement and confirmation that the classification, level, and credit values of each unit standard were consistent with their content and purpose. The review teams took into consideration changes to legislation, procedures, and technology applicable to the unit standards before recommending and endorsing the changes.
Main changes
· Titles, outcomes, evidence requirements, range statements, and explanatory notes were updated to reflect the present needs of the fire and rescue services industry.
· Standard 10614 was replaced by standards 26992 and 26993. This is to allow personnel who do not use rescue ladders to gain credit for their access ladder knowledge and skills.
· Standard 10616 was replaced by standards 26994 and 26995. This is to allow personnel who do not use rescue knots and lines to gain credit for their general purpose knots and lines knowledge and skills.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2012
