The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.

 

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The qualification was reviewed to make changes to the content based on feedback received from industry.  Draft qualifications were circulated for consultation within the ITO and with key industry representatives.  This feedback was considered by the review panel.

 

The qualification structure and content was updated in response to the feedback received.  As a result, a new qualification emerged reflecting the tuberculosis (Tb) testing in cattle and deer pathways.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·         The new qualification is structured to reflect the specialist nature of tuberculosis testing of domestic cattle and especially that of testing tuberculosis (Tb) of deer.

·         The National Certificate in Tuberculosis (Tb) Testing of Domestic Cattle and Deer [Ref: 1496] has been designated expiring.

There are substantial differences between the new qualification and the replaced qualification.

·      The qualification has been replaced to allow for a progression of learning to take place.

·      The replacement qualification reflects the tuberculosis (Tb) testing in cattle and deer pathways.

 

Transition

 

Training programmes or courses for the new qualification may start as soon as the replacement qualification is registered.  All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to the replacement qualification.

 

People working towards the National Certificate in Tuberculosis (Tb) Testing of Domestic Cattle and Deer [Ref: 1496] can complete or transfer to the National Certificate in Tuberculosis (Tb) Testing of Domestic Cattle and Deer (Domestic Cattle) with an optional strand in Deer [Ref: 1611].

 

The last date for assessments to take place for the National Certificate in Tuberculosis (Tb) Testing of Domestic Cattle and Deer [Ref: 1496] is 31 December 2013.
