FIELD PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
Revision of Surveying qualification
National Certificate in Surveying (Hydrographic Surveying) (Level 4) [Ref: 1444]
InfraTrain New Zealand has revised the qualification above.
Date new version published July 2011
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2013.
Reason for the revision
This revision was undertaken as a result of initial discussions between InfraTrain NZ and the Royal New Zealand Navy, who is the sole provider and target audience for this qualification. The Royal New Zealand Navy indicated that a number of standards were no longer representative of the job profile, creating barriers to completion. The following outlines the consultation process:
· Initial feedback and comments were collated from the Royal New Zealand Navy, as well as from the NZ Institute of Surveyors.
· This information was reviewed by a subject expert panel and a revised qualification was created.
· The revised qualification was sent out for full consultation to industry stakeholders.
· Feedback from this consultation informed the changes described below.
Main changes resulting from the revision

· Expiring first aid standards 6400, 6401, and 6402 were replaced by 26551 and 26552.

· The overall credit total for the qualification decreased from 154 to 129.
