Revision of Extractive Industries qualification
National Certificate in Extractive Industries (Mining Administration B Grade Tunnel Manager) (Level 5) with an optional strand in Coal Mine Deputy [Ref: 1535]
The NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation (EXITO) has revised the qualification above.
Date new version published July 2011
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.
Reason for the revision
Competenz reviewed Unit 2401, Safely shut down and isolate machines and equipment, and removed Unit 21912, Apply safe working practices on an engineering worksite, as its prerequisite. As standard 21912 is not specifically required within the gazette notice relating to the mining administration regulations and Certificates of Competence for B Grade Tunnel Managers, it was not required to be included in the qualification.
The change made during this revision has been endorsed by EXITO's Extractives Industry Advisory Group and Sector Advisory Group on behalf of industry.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Standard 21912 was removed from the qualification.
Changes to structure and content
· Standard 21912 was removed from the Core Compulsory as it was no longer specified as a prerequisite for standard 2401.
· The level and credits for standard 17694 were updated.
· The title of standard 21152 was updated.
· The total credits required decreased from 142 to 140.
Transition
It is recommended that people currently working towards version 2 of this qualification transfer their results to version 2 of the qualification so that they do not have to complete the requirements for standard 21912.
The last date for assessments to take place for version 2 of this qualification is December 2012.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
