Revision of Snowsport qualifications

 

National Certificate in Snowsport (Level 3) with strands in Patrol, and Courtesy Patrol [Ref: 0492]

National Certificate in Snowsport with strands in Snowgrooming, and Snowmaking [Ref: 0848]

National Certificate in Snowsport (Advanced Lift Operation) [Ref: 1217]

 

Skills Active Aotearoa Limited has revised the qualifications listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.

 

Reason for the revision

 

These qualifications were revised to remove minor barriers to qualification completion that had been identified through industry feedback.  Expiring standards in the Core Health and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care domains have been replaced and standards that did not reflect current practice for these roles have been removed.  As a result of the revision process these qualifications now meet current practice and industry is committed to using them.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

National Certificate in Snowsport (Level 3) with strands in Patrol, and Courtesy Patrol [Ref: 0492]

 

Changes to structure and content

·      Credit total for the qualification reduced from 45 or 79 credits to 43 or 68 credits.

·      Titles, levels and credits have been updated.

·      Expiring standards 6401 and 6402 were removed from the Core Compulsory.

·      Expiring standards 6400, 6418 and standard 20160 were removed from the Patrol Strand.

·      Expiring standards 14470 and 14471 were replaced by standard 25412.

·      Standard 25411 was added to the Core Compulsory.

 

Transition

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.

People currently working towards version 3 of the qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 4 of the qualification.

 

Candidates that wish to complete version 3 of this qualification must gain credit for standards 14470 and 14471 before they expire in December 2011.

 

National Certificate in Snowsport with strands in Snowgrooming, and Snowmaking [Ref: 0848]

 

Changes to structure and content

·      Credit total decreased from 47 to 42-45 credits.

·      The minimum elective requirements for Snowgrooming Strand elective increased from 8 to 9 credits.

·      The minimum elective requirements for Snowmaking Strand elective increased from 5 to 7 credits.

·      Titles and levels have been updated.

·      Expiring standards 6400, 6401, and 6402 were removed from the Core Compulsory.

·      Standard 16703 moved from the Snowgrooming Strand Elective to the Snowgrooming Strand Compulsory.

·      Standards 20160 and 20161 in the Snowmaking Strand Compulsory were replaced with standard 20159.

·      Standard 2322 was removed from the Snowgrooming Strand Compulsory.

 

Transition

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.

National Certificate in Snowsport (Advanced Lift Operation) [Ref: 1217]

 

Changes to structure and content

·      Credit total decreased from 50 to 42 credits.

·      Titles, levels and credits were updated following revision.

·      Standard 18102 was moved from the Compulsory to the Elective.

·      Expiring standards 6400, 6401 and 6402 in the Compulsory were replaced by standards 26551 and 26552, and moved to the Elective.

 

Transition

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards - see table below.
