Learning State Limited has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published June 2011
Planned review date December 2015
Summary of review and consultation process
Learning State, in consultation with the Department of Conservation (DOC), has reviewed the unit standards in the Ecological Management domain. During consultation it was agreed that most of the unit standards would be designated expiring as they were no longer relevant or fit for purpose. Three unit standards were still considered to be relevant to the industry and were reviewed to ensure they met current DOC practices, policies and methodologies.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Standards 14735, 19676- 19701, 19703 -19712 in the Ecological Management domain were designated expiring as they were no longer required by industry.
· Standards 19691 and 19702 were replaced by standards 27189 and 27190 respectively in the Conservation domain.
· Standard 14732 was reclassified from the Ecological Management domain to the Conservation domain.
· In standard 14732 - ‘ecological management’ was changed to ‘conservation management’ to be consistent with the other reviewed unit standards and to better fit with the work that DOC undertakes, and the title was changed to better reflect the content of the unit standard.
· Legislation, government guidelines, and industry codes of practice were updated.
· The definitions in the Explanatory Notes were updated and standardised for consistency.
· Outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements were deleted, added or rewritten to reflect current practice, and/or to update methodologies, and processes undertaken by the industry.
Unit standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2011.
