Summary

 

This standard was written for people training to undertake work in a faultman role.  When the standard was developed ESITO understood that only Line Mechanics progressed into a faultman role, hence the prerequisite for entry to the standard was the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) (Level 4) [Ref: 0874].  However, following consultation with industry it became apparent that many companies progress electricians into a faultman role.  In order for electricians to be able to undertake this standard an alternative prerequisite of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Electrical) (Level 4) with strands in Electricity Supply Electrician, Electrical Fitter, and Electrical Technician [Ref: 1295] was added to the entry requirements for the standard.
