The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

This qualification was reviewed by a group of museum industry representatives which considered the qualification's fitness for purpose.  The group included representatives from different types and sizes of museums.  The group decided that the qualification's structure needed to be updated to remain fit for purpose.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

Elective 2 was restructured into two sets.  The details of reviewed standards were also updated.

Changes to structure and content

·         Elective 2 was restructured into two sets and now requires a minimum of 15 credits at Level 3 or above from two sets: Set A and Set B.  Set A offers a choice between specified standards from the Museum Collections, Museum Customer Services, and Museum Public Programmes domains.  Set B offers a choice between specified standards from the Art History, Wāhi Tapu, Pānui, and Visitor Interpretation domains and also a choice from a wider selection of standards from the Museum Services and Tourism subfields and the Business, Computing and Information Technology, Education, and Māori fields.

·         The titles of reviewed standards 20542, 20545 and 20547 were updated.

·         The credit values of reviewed standards 20545, 20548 and 20554 were updated.

 

Transition

 

All existing candidates may complete version 2 of this qualification or transfer their results to version 3.

 

The last date for assessments to take place for version 2 of this qualification is December 2013.

 

Programmes leading to the award of version 3 may begin when version 3 is registered.

 

It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this review.  However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the standard setting body at the address below.

Category A

Category B

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

The new version of the qualification recognises a similar skill set to that recognised by the previous version

The SSB is confident that people awarded the new or previous version are comparable in terms of competence

Transition arrangements are required if candidates must gain additional/different credits for the new version

Category C

Significant changes are made to the qualification in terms of components, structure, type or level
