The NZ Extractive Industries Training Organisation has completed the revision and review of the unit standards listed above. Reviewed standards are shown in bold.
Date new versions published May 2011
Planned review date December 2012
Summary
The unit standards listed above have been revised because of assessment issues raised during the development of EXITO assessment resources. Feedback from assessors and industry informed the revision. One recurring issue in this revision is the potential for unnecessary assessment that results from listing legislation that does not apply specifically to the evidence requirements, or that does not match the candidate's level of responsibility. This was addressed by removing the legislation in favour of appropriate documentation for assessing compliance requirements.
Unit standards 22619 and 22620 were deemed to cover the same outcomes so were reviewed. A replacement standard combining the content of the two overlapping standards was drafted and distributed to key industry stakeholders for approval. Following amendment, the standard was confirmed by them as fit for purpose.
Main changes
· Standards 22619 and 22620 were replaced by standard 27075.
· Titles of standards 22634, 22636, and 23299 were amended to more clearly indicate the content.
· Credits for standard 22636 increased from 6 to 8 to better reflect notional learning time.
· Explanatory notes were updated, corrected, and clarified, including the addition and updating of appropriate references, and the removal of references and legislation that are not required for assessment.
· Evidence requirements were rewritten to remove restrictions on achievement, clarify assessment requirements, and put into logical order.
· Range statements were amended to improve assessment guidance.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2012
