Summary
The review panel met in February 2011 to consider updating this unit standard. The review panel and consultation network included representation from the sector and accredited providers. Changes were made to the unit standard to make it relevant to laboratory work and calculations required in a laboratory context. The panel advised an increase to level and credits. The new unit standard 27388 assesses the relevant skills and knowledge required and was distributed for comment in March 2010. There was no objection to the changes made through this review. Unit standard 9183 has been designated expiring under the Alignment of Standards Project.

· Increase in level from 3 to 4.
· Increase in credits from 3 to 4.
· Calculations relevant to laboratory work added.
Category C unit standard will expire at the end of December 2013
