Summary of review and consultation process
Some of the Level 1 achievement standards required changes to address issues encountered during their first year of use.
Main changes resulting from the revisions
· Accounting - Explanatory Note 1 amended to include a reference to the Teaching and Learning Guide.
· Health - Deletion of unnecessary wording in Explanatory Note 3.
· Mathematics - Removal of the reference to 'a range of' situations, methods or procedures from the Explanatory Notes, including the paragraph expanding on the term. This information relates to teaching and learning programmes rather than to what will be assessed.
· Chemistry - Deletion of 'iron(lll)' from Explanatory Note 5.
· Science - Deletion of 'iron(lll)' from Explanatory Note 6.
· Geography - Clarification of context for assessment in Explanatory Note 3. Although teaching and learning programmes relate to different countries and regions, the evidence presented for assessment does not need to relate to different countries or regions across examination questions: for example, if question one can be answered using New Zealand as the context, this does not preclude the use of Auckland as the context for the answer to question two.
