Summary of review and revision consultation processes

The National Certificate in Security (Level 2) was reviewed to ensure that it continues to meet industry and legislative requirements for security personnel.  The qualification and the unit standards included in it were reviewed at the same time.

A consultation group consisting of representatives from the security industry, training providers, the New Zealand Police, and Māori Wardens reviewed the qualification.  This group considered the content of the qualification in terms of advances in technology, equipment, industry best practice and requirements, moderation and stakeholder feedback, and changes to legislation governing security personnel which took place in 2010.

The group updated the content of the qualification to take into account the reviewed unit standards which were updated to take into account the recent changes in legislation.

The National Certificate in Security with strands in Court Security, Event Security, Mobile Patrol, Noise Control, Retail Security, Secure Transport, Site Security, and Community Security (Levels 3 or 4) was revised to remove the content which is also in version 7 of the National Certificate in Security (Level 2).
