Summary

 

The unit standards listed above have been reviewed as part of the MQS planned review cycle to ensure that the standards are fit for purpose and the outcomes are achievable, manageable, coherent, assessable, and consistent with valid assessment practices.

 

The Whakaruruhau New Māori Dance, which is made up of representatives from selected tertiary education organisations, selected secondary schools and a dance production company, met on three occasions between October 2010 and April 2011.

 

Stakeholders were encouraged to give feedback on the draft unit standards via the NZQA website.  Suggestions received from the sector as a result of the e-consultation were actioned and endorsed by the Whakaruruhau.  The Whakaruruhau endorsed all of the changes made to the reviewed unit standards.

 

Main changes

 

·      Titles and purpose statements were amended to more accurately and clearly reflect the intended content.

·      Explanatory notes were updated to better convey assessment parameters, including clearer definitions, and clarification of the breadth and depth of evidence required to demonstrate competence.

·      Outcome statements, evidence requirements, and range statements were amended to improve the clarity and consistency of assessment.

·      Credit values for unit standards 22759 and 22760 were increased to more accurately reflect the time taken for delivery, learning and assessment.

 

The last date for assessment against the superseded versions of these unit standards is 31 December 2013
