Summary of review and consultation process

This review was undertaken in response to feedback from stakeholders indicating that the qualification was no longer fit for purpose.

During the review process the stakeholders were consulted via the Beauty Advisory Group (BAG), which consisted of representatives from subsectors of the industry, including: employers, employees, Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics and Private Training Enterprises, and product companies.  Members of the BAG were required to consult with the wider industry, share questions from the BAG meetings, and report feedback to the BAG on a regular basis.  ‘Fitness for purpose' of the new version of the qualification was confirmed by engaging industry regularly in the consultation process.

Main changes resulting from the review

Expiring Core Health standards were replaced.  Five standards from the Beauty Therapy domain were removed as they were not meeting industry requirements for this qualification.  Standards from the Beauty Therapy domain, and standards from the Salon Skills domain, were added to the qualification to more suitably reflect the skills and knowledge required by industry.
