Summary

 

The unit standards listed above were reviewed to ensure they meet current needs of industry.  Feedback received had indicated difficulty in assessing the standards in some sub-sectors due to the wording of one of the Explanatory Notes.

 

Following a survey of industry and relevant education providers on all aspects of the standards, an across-sector review panel was established to consider the feedback and to ensure that the standards meet current industry requirements.

 

The review panel met in October 2012.

 

Main changes

 

·      The purpose of standard 23685 was clarified.

·      An outcome was added to standard 23685 to reinforce its context.

·      The title of standard 23685 was amended to reflect the purpose and the additional outcome.

·      The purpose of standard 20827 was clarified.

·      The credits allocated to standard 20827 were increased from 2 to 3 to more accurately reflect the time taken for learners to complete it.

·      The title of standard 20827 was amended to fit with preferred industry terminology.

·      Recommended entry skills and knowledge were added to standard 20827, showing its relationship to standard 23685.

·      The outcomes of standard 20827 were amended as were the relevant range statements and evidence requirements.

·      Explanatory notes were updated.
