Revision of First Aid unit standards

NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has completed the revision of the unit standards listed above.

Summary

 

Following feedback from the 2010 and 2011 moderation rounds, NQS revised First Aid unit standards 25459, 26551, and 26552.  The revisions were made to provide further clarity on the assessment requirements for the standards and to ensure assessor decisions for the standards are consistent with the national standard.

 

Consultation took place in September 2011.  Respondents were predominantly supportive of the revisions.

 

Main changes

 

·         For standard 25459, the removal of 'and any three of the following' from the range of Evidence Requirement 1.2.

·         For standard 26551, the split of Explanatory Note 2 into two separate Explanatory Notes, and the addition of a new Explanatory Note 4 on practical assessment requirements.

·         For standard 26552, the removal of 'and medical conditions' from Evidence Requirement 2.3.

·         For version 1 of standards 25459 and 26551, and version 2 of standard 26552, a last date for assessment of 31 December 2012.
