Revision of Pharmacy qualification

 

National Certificate in Pharmacy (Assistant) (Level 3) [Ref: 0469]

 

The Pharmacy Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.

 

Date new version published                                                             January 2012

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.

 

Reason for the revision

 

·           Expiry of unit standards in the Core Health domain and Stock Control domain.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

·           Expiring and expired unit standards were replaced and substituted by later standards to ensure the achievability of the qualification.

Transition

 

Changes to structure and content:

·         Unit standard 27457 was substituted for expiring unit standard 6418.

·         Unit standard 24997 replaced expired unit standard 11970.

·         Unit standards 26551 and 26552 replaced expiring unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402.

·         Unit standard 27229 replaced expiring unit standard 11940.

·         Reverse transition was introduced for version 4 of the qualification.

 

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 4 may complete that version or transfer to version 5.  However, version 4 of this qualification contains a unit standard that has expired (11970) and a unit standard that is expiring (6418).  People wishing to complete version 4 of this qualification must gain credit for expiring unit standard 6418 before 31 December 2012.  People who have not gained credit for the expired unit standard, 11970, can complete version 4 by using its replacement unit standard (reverse transition).

 

For the purpose of version 4 of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the replacement standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring standard - see below.

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the award of version 4 of this qualification, and the start date for entry into programmes leading to the award of version 5 of this qualification, is upon registration of version 5.

 

The last date for assessments to take place for version 4 of this qualification is 31 December 2013.

 

Version 5 of this qualification contains standards that replace or substitute earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the earlier standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement or substitute standards - see table below.
