Summary

In February 2011, after the dissolution of the Creative Trades Industry Training Organisation, the responsibility for the signmaking sector was transferred to the Communications and Media Industry Training Organisation.  As part of this change of responsibility the unit standards listed above were reclassified from the expiring (lapsing) Signmaking domain in the Graphic Arts subfield to a new Signmaking domain in the Printing subfield.  Standard Setting Body and CMR (previously Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan [AMAP]) details were updated on the unit standards.

In March 2011 the Signmaking Advisory Group was convened to examine the existing unit standards and qualification.  These were examined in depth and extensive changes were made to make them more relevant to current industry practice.

Main changes

·      Standard Setting Body details were updated to reflect the change of standard setting responsibility.

·      Unit standards were reclassified to reflect the changes to subfields and domain.

·      Thirteen unit standards were developed to replace thirty eight unit standards that were designated expiring.

·      Three completely new unit standards were developed to address gaps identified in the review process.

·      Unit standards 1033, 1039, 1045, 1053, 1054, 6989 and 20195 were designated expiring without replacement.

·      A last date for assessment of superseded versions of the unit standards was set of 31 December 2012.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2014
