Careerforce, the Community Support Services Industry Training Organisation Ltd (CSSITO), has reviewed the unit standards and qualifications listed above.
Date report published January 2012
Summary of the review and consultation process
In line with the aim of Government policy and the desired outcome of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) in relation to reducing the proliferation of qualifications and unit standards, Careerforce took stock in 2011 of the qualifications and unit standards that it was responsible for developing. A prioritisation and rationalisation exercise was carried out by Careerforce during 2011 aimed at rationalising the work of the ITO to ensure that the unit standards and qualifications for which it is responsible are relevant, useful, and meet the current needs of learners and providers.
As no results have been registered for the unit standards listed above for at least the past three years, Careerforce contacted all organisations with consent to assess against them, asking if they intended to use the standards in the future. As no organisations indicated intent to assess against these standards it was decided to designate them expiring.
There have been no registrations in either the National Certificate in Community Support (Epilepsy Care) [Ref: 0791] or the National Diploma in Community Support (Epilepsy Care) [Ref: 0792] for several years. No organisations with consent to assess against the component standards intend to use the standards in the future. In line with the TRoQ aims of reducing the number of unused qualifications, it was decided to expire them.
Epilepsy New Zealand also confirmed that there are no plans for use of the standards or qualifications listed above.
Careerforce originally intended to move the standards listed above from the lapsing classification Community and Social Services > Community Support > Epilepsy Care to the new classification Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Epilepsy Care. However, as the unit standards and qualifications for Epilepsy Care are no longer required, industry has no need for the following domains: Community and Social Services > Community Support > Epilepsy Care; Community and Social Services > Health, Disability, and Aged Support > Epilepsy Care.
