Revision of Wool Harvesting qualification

National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 3) [Ref: 1058]

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          March 2012

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.

Reason for the revision

The qualification was revised to address a barrier to completion identified by industry feedback, and to allow trainees to select standards appropriate to their workplace requirements.  A barrier to entry also needed to be removed for people who had completed the qualification that was replaced by the prerequisite qualification.

Main changes resulting from the revision

National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 3) [Ref: 1058]

Changes to structure and content

·            Assessment standard 20316, which requires access to fine wool, was removed from the compulsory section

·            An optional section was added to allow candidates to include standard 20316 if it was appropriate to their workplace requirements

·            National Certificate of Wool Harvesting (Level 2) with Wool Handling Strand [Ref: 1050] was included as an alternative pre-requisite to remove the barrier to entry for holders of this qualification, which was replaced by National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Entry) (Level 2) with the Learner Wool Handler Strand [Ref: 1546], the currently listed pre-requisite qualification.
