Summary
Unit standards 577 and 25853 were revised to remove barriers to assessment for blade shearing trainees resulting from specific reference to machine shearing.
The changes reflect the original intent of the standards and have been raised and agreed to by key stakeholders.
Main changes
· The references to machine shearing were removed from standards 577 and 25853.
· The explanatory notes in standard 25853 have been amended to clarify assessment conditions relating to the performance standard (maximum time allowed to continuously shear three sheep).
· References have been updated.
· The last date for assessment of superseded versions of these standards is 31 December 2013.
