Summary

The steering group for the development of New Zealand Diplomas in Aviation noted that the achievement of the privilege of night flying instruction was not the outcome of unit standard 26213, making it misleading, and that additional unit standards were required for specialised helicopter operations.  The new standards were drafted in consultation with industry experts and endorsed by the steering group.

Main changes

·      Wording of outcome 2 of unit standard 26213 was changed to: ‘Carry out in-flight instruction for night flying under the direct supervision of a Qualified Flight Instructor.

·      New unit standards 27677 and 27679-27681 were developed to fill identified gaps.
