Revision of Pacific Islands Early Childhood Education qualification

 

National Certificate in Pacific Islands Early Childhood Education (Level 4) [Ref: 1269]

 

NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has revised the qualification listed above.

 

Date new version published                                                             September 2012

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.

 

Reason for the revision

 

The revision was undertaken to ensure the qualification would remain achievable until its review in 2014.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The qualification has been revised to take into account the impact of the changes in unit standards to the achievability of the qualification.

 

Changes to structure and content

·         Levels, credits, and titles of standards were updated to reflect changes made following their review.

·         The Elective section rule was amended as a result of the change to standards in the Compulsory section of the qualification.

·         Standards 20407, 26707, 26708, 26709, 26712, 26715, 27145, and 27146 were added to reflect changes in the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 3) [Ref: 0403] which is embedded in this qualification.

·         Standards 6632, 10014, 10015, 10016, 10017, 10018, 10034, 10036, and 10038 were not included in version 2 of the qualification.  Some of these standards were replaced or substituted as follows:

·      Standard 6632 was substituted by standard 26712

·      Standards 10014 and 10017 were replaced by standard 26707

·      Standard 10016 was replaced by standard 26709

·      Standard 10038 was replaced by standard 27145.

·         Reverse transition for standard 6632 was introduced for version 1 of the qualification to enable people enrolled in this version to complete it.

 

Transition

 

This qualification contains standards that replace or substitute earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the earlier standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement or substitute standards - see table below.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of the qualification may either complete that version by 31 December 2014, or transfer to version 2.

 

All new candidates will be enrolled on version 2 of the qualification.

 

Reverse transition

 

For the purpose of version 1 of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the replacement standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring standard - see below.
