Revision of Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills qualification
National Certificate in Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (Level 1) [Ref: 1367]
The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification above.
Date new version published 20 September 2012
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.
Reason for the revision
The revision of the qualification was required in order to maintain the achievability of the qualification pending its review in 2014.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Expiring and expired standards were removed from the qualification.
Changes to structure and content
· Sets 3-5 of Elective 2 were removed from the qualification as they contained expired and expiring standards.
· A new Set 3 in Elective 2, including classifications rather than standards, was added to the qualification.
Transition
People currently working towards version 2 of this qualification may choose to complete that version or transfer their results to version 3. In order to meet the requirements of Elective 2, existing candidates wishing to complete version 2 must:
Please note that standards 7480, 7485, 7487, 7522, 7535, 8808, and 8811 - listed as part of the balance set in Elective 2 - will also expire on 31 December 2012. However, the balance set lists other standards that will allow candidates to meet the requirements of this set.
The last date for assessment of version 2 of the qualification is 31 December 2014.
It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this revision, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the SSB:
