Communications and Media Industry Training Organisation (CMITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
These unit standards were reviewed as they had passed their planned review date.
A number of consultative meetings were held with industry representatives from Corrugated Case Converting, Carton Converting and Fibreboard Manufacturing companies in the Fireboard Packaging industry as well as union and CMITO representatives and the group was asked to consider the following:
· The currency of the unit standards and the accuracy and appropriateness of their content in relation to the roles undertaken within the workplace.
· Level and credits in relation to performance outcomes.
· Any gaps in skills and/or knowledge that could be captured by the development of new unit standards.
Major changes were required to most of the unit standards as they were no longer fit for purpose.
The review group considered the implications of combining a number of standards and developing a replacement standard that would meet the needs of the various sectors. After discussion it was decided that this would be a satisfactory outcome and would reduce the large number of existing standards.
As a result of this it was decided that all units should be registered under the domain Fibreboard Packaging Production, which would cover the areas of Corrugated Case Converting, Fibreboard Manufacture and Carton Converting. These existing domains will eventually lapse.
Levels and credits were considered and significant changes were made to many of the standards.
Main changes resulting from the review
· 7 new unit standards were developed to cover skills and knowledge required by the Fibreboard Packaging sector.
· 86 unit standards designated C category were replaced by 42 new unit standards.
· All new and replacement unit standards will be registered under the Fibreboard Packaging Production domain.
· The Fibreboard Manufacture, Corrugated Case Converting and Carton Converting domains were designated lapsing.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2015.
