Summary
Ministry of Education, in association with NZQA, is aligning achievement standards from the Science learning area in the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC). The project recommended that all Level 3 unit standards be expired as the aligned achievement standards cover science outcomes from the NZC.
Feedback from the tertiary sector indicates that the unit standards included in this review need to be retained as they are required for qualifications. These standards have been reviewed so they are fit for purpose, national in scope, and technically correct.
Main changes
· Standards have had range statements clarified to clearly indicate evidence required.
· Standards 6314, 6315, and 6345 had titles changed to better reflect the outcomes.
· Legislation and health and safety notes have been updated so that they are fit for purpose and technically correct.
