InfraTrain has completed the review of the unit standards and qualification listed above.

Summary

A review was undertaken of the above unit standards and qualification as they were overdue for review.

These unit standards have not been used by the design and construction or infrastructure sector for more than four years.  Consultation was undertaken with NZQA, the Industry Training Federation and relevant Industry Training Organisations in 2010, and it was established at that time the graphic design sector had developed its own relevant industry standards and there was no industry requirement for these unit standards to be maintained by other Standard Setting Bodies.  These unit standards have been confirmed by InfraTrain as no longer required by industry.

The qualification was due for review in 2008 and several standards in the strands have expired or been designated expiring, making the Product Design and Spatial Design strands in the qualification unachievable. In addition, the standards in the Graphic Design strand no longer meet the needs of the design and construction sector.

Consultation with stakeholders has confirmed this qualification no longer meets the needs of industry and there is no longer a viable market for it in the design and construction industry.
