Planned review date                                                                           December 2018

Summary

In May 2012 Competenz began a consultation process with all stakeholders and industry experts to review the unit standards above to meet changes within the industry and ensure learners were able to complete their qualifications.  The review considered changes to rail passenger services staff operating procedures and responsibilities, the introduction of new ticketing procedures, and a shift of focus from rolling stock operations to security and passenger care.

As a result, existing unit standards no longer reflected the new range of skills required in rail passenger service roles.  Also, learners in existing training programmes were unable to complete their qualifications.

Stakeholders and industry experts endorsed the reviewed and new unit standards in June 2013.

Main changes

·           Unit standards 19392 and 19510 were replaced by unit standards 28009 and 28012.

·           Unit standard titles, purpose statements, explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements have been amended to provide greater clarity of the purpose of each standard and align with the outcomes of this review.

·           Three new unit standards 28010, 28011 and 28013 have been developed.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of standard 19392 and 19510 is 31 December 2014.  Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of the superseded versions of these standards.

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2014
