Revision of Commercial Road Transport, Industrial Textile Fabrication and Resource Efficiency qualifications

 

National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Courier Driver) with strands in Urgent Operations, and Non-urgent Operations [Ref: 1084]

National Certificate in Industrial Textile Fabrication (Level 4) with strands in Canvas Fabrication; Sailmaking; and Vehicle Trimming and Upholstery [Ref: 1341]

National Certificate in Resource Efficiency (Practice) (Level 4) [Ref: 1674]

 

The NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Incorporated) (MITO) has revised the qualifications listed above.

Reason for the revision

 

These qualifications were revised to ensure they remain achievable until the Mandatory Reviews for each industry sector are completed and replacement qualifications and programmes are available.  These reviews have all been commenced and are ongoing.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Courier Driver) with strands in Urgent Operations, and Non-urgent Operations [Ref: 1084]

 

Changes to structure and content

·         Expiring standards 6401 and 6402 were replaced by standards 26551 and 26552 in the Core Elective.

·         Expired standards 16605 and 16610 were removed from the Core Elective.

·         Standard titles, credits and classifications were updated.

 

Transition

 

People working towards version 3 of the qualification who wish to use any expired or expiring standards will need to achieve or have achieved credit for them before their expiry date.  All current candidates may either complete version 3 or transfer their results to version 4.

 

Version 4 of this qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this version of the qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.

Reverse transition

 

For candidates who do choose to complete version 3 of this qualification, the following reverse transition has been included to allow existing candidates to complete the qualification using the replacement standards.  People who have gained credit for the replacement standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring standards – see table below.

Changes to structure and content

·         Core Compulsory credits increased to 22 and Core Elective credits decreased to 14.

·         Expired standard 7452 was replaced by standards 27520 and 27521 in the Core Elective

·         Expiring standards 1991 and 8493 were removed from the Core Elective.

·         Expired standard 14144 was removed from the Vehicle Trimming and Upholstery Elective.

·         Standard titles and credits were updated.

Changes to structure and content

·         Expiring standard 18664 was removed from Elective B.

·         Expiring standard 23400 was replaced by standards 27567 and 27568 in Elective B.

 

Transition

 

People working towards version 1 of the qualification who wish to use standards 18664 or 23400 will need to achieve credit for them before their expiry date.  All current candidates may either complete version 1 or transfer their results to version 2.

 

Version 2 of this qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this version of the qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.
