The NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO) has completed the revision of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          November 2013

Planned review date (unchanged)                                                  December 2016

Summary

MITO’s Resource Efficiency Working Group, which includes representation from industry and Tertiary Education Organisations, considered the content of these unit standards in conjunction with the development of New Zealand qualifications for the resource efficiency sector.

While usage of these unit standards has been low to date, this revision was also informed by feedback from a pilot programme towards the National Certificate in Resource Efficiency (Practice) (Level 4) [Ref: 1674] that was held during 2012.

The revision of these standards has re-aligned the level and credit values to ensure they reflect the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) level descriptors, and the time required for learning, practice, and assessment to take place; and to ensure they accord rationally with the Graduate Profile Outcomes in the New Zealand qualifications.

Main changes

·      The level for standards 27016, 27020, and 27021 was increased from 5 to 6 to better align with the NZQF level descriptors.

·      The credits for standards 27007, 27020, and 27023-27026 were increased to more accurately reflect the time required for learning, practice, and assessment to take place.

·      Entry information for standard 27019 was updated for currency.

·      Entry information was added to standard 27020, and a range statement was added to evidence requirement 1.2 to clarify that consideration of site infrastructure, processes, and systems is needed.

·      Explanatory note references and hyperlinks were updated for currency.

·      The evidence requirements for outcome 3 of standard 27025 were re-written to align with the approach used in standards 27023, 27024, and 27026.

·      Range statements for standards 27007 and 27014 were expanded to include raw materials.

·      Minor amendments to some purpose statements, explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements were made to ensure clarity for users.

Impact on registered qualifications

Key to type of impact

Affected

The qualification lists a reviewed classification (domain or subfield) in an elective set

The qualification lists a standard that has changes to level or credits

The qualification lists a C or D category standard

Not materially affected

The qualification lists a standard that has a new title

The qualification lists a standard that has a new classification

The following MITO qualifications are impacted by the outcome of this Revision.  These qualifications are included in the Resource Efficiency sector review of qualifications that is currently underway.  The standards that generated the status Affected are listed in bold.
