Revision of Community Support Services qualifications

National Certificate in Community Support Services (Residential) (Level 3) [Ref: 1391]

National Certificate in Community Support Services (Intellectual Disability) (Level 3) [Ref: 1397]

Careerforce, the Community Support Services ITO Limited, has revised the qualifications listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          October 2013

The next reviews of these qualifications are planned to take place as part of a Mandatory Review process during 2013-2014.

Reason for the revision

The qualifications were revised to ensure they remained achievable, to allow access to updated unit standards and to remove an expiring unit standard until the mandatory review is complete.

Main changes resulting from the revision

Both qualifications contained expiring unit standard 5012.  The unit standard was removed from both qualifications and unit standards 26977 and 27833 were added in its place.

An additional elective section was added to the National Certificate in Community Support Services (Residential) (Level 3) [Ref: 1391] that includes the replacement unit standards.

This was required in order to allow candidates working in different contexts to achieve the qualification.  The two replacement unit standards cover the spectrum of those who assist people to move with specialist moving equipment as well as those who move people using specialist moving equipment.
