Summary
The above unit standards for the Garden Retail sector were reviewed, and found to be unsuited to the needs of the industry. Changes were made to content, and some of the titles and credits, to ensure the standards were fit for purpose. Consultation included a broad range of industry participants, including nursery and garden centres. Changes to the standards were endorsed by industry.
Main changes
· Content of all standards was changed to suit industry needs and to make the standards assessable in workplaces in the garden retail sector.
· Titles of standards 3147, 22161, 22162, and 22163 were modified to provide a clearer indication of the significant outcomes recognised by the standards.
· The number of credits required for standards 3147, 3148, and 22161 was changed to better reflect the time: spent learning; taken to practise the required outcomes so that performance is repeatable and to the required standard; to gather and provide evidence for assessment purposes; and for assessment to take place in the specified contexts.
· A new unit standard was developed to replace 22163 and 22164 and these standards were designated expiring.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2015
