Revision of National Certificate in Employment Skills [Ref: 0231]
NZQA National Qualifications Services has revised the qualification above.
Date new version published April 2014
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2016.
Reason for the revision
The revision of the National Certificate in Employment Skills [Ref: 0231] occurred as a result of the review of all seven standards in the Te Reo Rangatira domain. This domain moved from the Reo Māori subfield to the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa subfield and the existing standards were designated expiring.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Twelve achievement standards were added to the list of Literacy standards for the Literacy Elective of the National Certificate in Employment Skills [Ref: 0231] from the Te Reo Rangatira domain in the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa subfield.

Changes to structure and content
· Expiring Te Reo Rangatira standards 90135, 90137, and 90801-90805 were removed from the list of Literacy standards for the Literacy Elective.
· The following achievement standards were added to the list of Literacy standards for the Literacy Elective:
Māori > Te Marautanga o Aotearoa > Te Reo Rangatira

Transition
Candidates currently working towards version 14 may choose to complete that version or transfer their results to version 15, however those who wish to use expiring standards 90135, 90137, and 90801-90805 towards this qualification will need to complete assessment against these standards before December 2014.
The last date for entry to programmes or courses for version 14 is 31 July 2014, after which time no new candidates can be enrolled in that version. The last date for assessment of version 14 is 31 December 2015. The start date for programmes or courses for version 15 is upon publication of the qualification.
This qualification contains standards that have replaced or been substituted for earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expired standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement or substituted standards – see table below.
