Careerforce has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published July 2014
Planned review date December 2019
Summary
The review of the unit standards above was prompted by the Targeted Review of Qualifications (Cleaning), Levels 1-6.
The unit standards were reviewed to ensure that they are fit for purpose, relevant to the Cleaning and Caretaking sector, and reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in the new qualification. Nine new unit standards were developed to meet the needs of the sector.
To assist in developing the unit standards a sector panel representing cleaners and identified industry leaders was assembled at a venue in Auckland. At this meeting the new Level 2 qualification was drafted - and subsequently listed as the New Zealand Certificate in Cleaning (Level 2) with optional endorsement in Health Care Facilities Cleaning [Ref: 2316] - and a framework of unit standard outcomes identified.
Subsequently communication was carried out electronically to ensure the resulting unit standards would provide relevant and appropriate indicators of the knowledge and skills required by cleaners at this level.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standards 1580, 1581, 1590, 7183, 17270, 17275, 23968, 27831 and 27832 were designated expiring without replacement (Review Category D).
· Unit standards 1563, 1565, 1566, 1569, 7182, 7442, 17263 and 17264 were designated expiring (Review Category C) and replaced by nine new standards.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2017
