Primary Industry Training Organisation (Primary ITO) has completed the review of the qualification listed above as part of the mandatory review of Agriculture sector qualifications.

Replacement qualification

New Zealand Diploma in Wool Technology (Level 5) with an optional endorsement in Shed Classing [Ref: 2425]

Date new versions published                                                          June 2014

Summary of review and consultation process

The review occurred as a result of the mandatory review of Agriculture sector qualifications, part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ).  The mandatory review involved extensive consultation with stakeholders working in and with the industry.  Consultation included meetings to discuss the need to review the qualification, and subsequent meetings considered the proposed content of the qualification.  It was identified that TECTRA Limited, being the probable only provider of the proposed new qualification, should become the developer of the new qualification, a process which was agreed between TECTRA Ltd and the Primary ITO.

Industry confirmed the ongoing need for a qualification in this area that would recognise graduate capabilities and provide an education pathway for trainees.

The existing National qualification has been replaced by a New Zealand qualification, as detailed below.
