Summary
This unit standard was reviewed as Category D in January 2011 as part of the Alignment of Standards review of achievement and unit standards conducted in 2010/2011 by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
The unit standard was initially designated to expire in December 2012. However, this date was extended to 31 December 2014 on 19 April 2012 at the request of the Bay of Plenty Welding School, as they required time to transition to qualifications proposed under the mandatory review and any subsequent development of new qualifications.
NQS subsequently received a request from the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) to set a last date for assessment for unit standard 7502 of 31 December 2018. This is because unit standard 7502 is compulsory in the National Certificate in Joinery with strands in Kitchen Manufacturing, and Kitchen Installation [Ref: 1484]. Aligning the last date for assessment enables learners to complete the qualification.
Usually, NQS would recommend BCITO review the national qualification to remove the expiring standard. In this case the standard is compulsory, does not have a suitable unit standard replacement and is a key skill for the qualification.
Main changes
