NZQA National Qualifications Services has completed the review and revision of the unit standards listed above. The unit standards in bold have been revised.

Summary
These standards were developed in 2010 with achieved grades. The sector signalled an increased uptake of these standards would be seen in the future if they were able to be achieved with merit and excellence grades. In 2012, three standards in the domain Pacific Indigenous Knowledge were reviewed to include grade criteria and accompanying assessment support materials were developed.
The remaining nine standards in Pacific Studies were reviewed as part of NZQA National Qualifications Services’ regular review cycle and now include grade criteria. Accompanying assessment support materials were also developed. The development panel from 2010 and 2012 was reconvened to undertake this task.
As part of this review, the three standards reviewed in 2012 were also revised to be consistent with explanatory notes and definitions in the nine reviewed standards.
National consultation on the draft standards was conducted throughout April 2014 using the NZQA website. Stakeholder feedback has confirmed that the standards reflect NZQA Pasifika Strategy initiatives, which aim to increase achievement in knowledge, skills and values for Pasifika students.
A planned review date of December 2019 has been set for all 12 standards.
Main changes
· All standards now include Merit and Excellence grade criteria and have been condensed to one outcome.
· Titles have been changed for consistency and to reflect the content.
· Some explanatory notes and definitions have been reworded for clarity and new definitions have been added where necessary.
· A range statement has been added to each standard to clarify what should be in the plan.
