Competenz has completed the revision of the Signmaking unit standards listed above.
As part of Competenz’s commitment to learning and development, the process to develop resources to support the unit standards was initiated, and through these discussions with members of the Signmaking industry it has become apparent that some of the unit standards required minor changes to outcomes and evidence requirements for clarity and consistency in assessment.
To rectify this, Competenz in partnership with the Signmaking industry undertook a revision to ensure that these unit standards are relevant and fit-for-purpose at present. A commitment has also been given to the industry that a second ‘look’ will be initiated within the next two years once these revised units are in use to ensure they will meet the future needs of the Signmaking industry as well as support a logical and accessible career pathway for apprentices.
Consultation was undertaken by the New Zealand Sign and Display Association to its members via website and newsletter, and Competenz via email to its all its employers engaged in workplace learning.
Explanatory notes and some titles have been updated.
Some outcome and evidence requirements have been modified for clarity and consistency in interpretation.
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of these standards is 31 December 2016.
