Competenz has reinstated and updated the unit standard listed above.
Date new version published August 2015
Planned review date December 2016
Summary
Unit Standard 21913 was designated expiring in November 2011 with the last date for assessment set at 31 December 2016.
Competenz had been advised by the Department of Labour at the time that this unit standard cannot be used as the Approved Code of Practice for Cranes and the Approved Code of Practice for Load-lifting Rigging have certain requirements/compliance issues that need to be met.
Worksafe New Zealand has since confirmed that while the Approved Code of Practice for Cranes does stipulate the required unit standards for load lifting operations, this should not be viewed as exclusive to the work Competenz qualifications prepare its trainees for.
This unit standard, while not required in the above codes of practice, is in a number of Competenz qualifications, and industry has clearly indicated that they would continue to use it.
The expiring status on this unit standard has been removed. The unit standard has been updated, is fit for purpose, and will be fully reviewed with all other mechanical engineering units in 2016.
