Connexis has completed the review of the qualification listed above following the Targeted Review of Qualifications process instigated by the NZQA.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Substation Maintenance) [Ref: 2969] resulted from a wider review of the national electricity supply industry education pathways as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications. The review process of the qualification was to ensure that they are fit for purpose, relevant to the Electricity Supply Industry which included an industry learning needs analysis and consultation with providers and industry.

Transition

All existing candidates may either complete the requirements of the current qualification or, transfer to the new qualification, according to programme availability. Candidates with the replaced qualification who subsequently proceed to the new qualification may be required to complete mandatory unit standards.

 

Those candidates that have achieved the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Sub Station Maintainer) (Level 4) [Ref: 1118] may cross credit any unit standards with the same title.

All new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Substation Maintenance) [Ref: 2969] from 31 December 2016.

 

The last date for assessment of the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Sub Station Maintainer) (Level 4) [Ref: 1118] will be 31 December 2018.

It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.  However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Connexis at the address below.  Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.

The new version of the qualification recognises a similar skill set to that recognised by the previous version

The SSB is confident that people awarded the new or previous version are comparable in terms of competence

Transition arrangements are required if candidates must gain additional/different credits for the new version

Category C

A new (replacement) qualification is published with new NZQF ID

Significant changes are made to the qualification in terms of components, structure, type or level

The SSB views people with the replacement qualification as being significantly different in terms of competence from those with the replaced qualification

Transition arrangements are required

Transition may be limited to phase-out dates

Category D

Qualification will expire.

There is no replacement qualification

Qualification is no longer required by industry
