Revision of Painting and Decorating qualification

National Certificate in Painting and Decorating (Level 4) [Ref: 1696]

The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          December 2015

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2016.

Reason for the revision

Standards listed within the qualification were reviewed in 2014.  Changes included changes to credit values for 3 standards, one of which is in the compulsory section of the qualification.  The superseded versions are set to expire on 31 December 2016.  The qualification has been revised to include the new versions of the standards, and to update the total required credits and ensure the qualification remains achievable until the Mandatory review of qualifications is complete and its replacement qualification and programme are registered.

Main changes resulting from the revision

· Titles of 8 standards have been updated

· Credit values for 3 standards have been updated

· Total credits for the qualification have changed from 208 to 204

Transition

The last date for assessments to take place for Version 1 of the qualification is 31 December 2016.  Candidates working towards Version 1 must complete the qualification requirements or transfer their credits to Version 2 before this date.

It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this revision.  However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged can appeal to BCITO at the contact details below.
