Summary

During 2014, a mandatory sector review of qualifications in the Healthcare sector occurred.  One of the resulting qualifications, listed in 2015, the New Zealand Certificate in Emergency Care (First Responder) (Level 3), had a relationship to the content of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) unit standards.  To support the New Zealand qualification, the PHEC unit standards were reviewed and a suite of new unit standards were developed.  The development encompassed broad consultation with the sector to ensure that the standards align to the qualification outcomes and meet current and future needs.

Main changes

·      Unit standard 14473, 25411, and 25412 were replaced by 29321, which was placed into new domain Emergency Care - First Response

·      New unit standards addressing themes required by the New Zealand qualification were listed.

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
