The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2019.

Summary of review and consultation process

A review of the skill requirements for the forestry industry involved three distinct types of groups: a governance group which provided guidance in developing a qualification framework for the forestry sector; strategic advisory groups which contributed to the development of sector–specific qualifications; and technical working groups responsible for reviewing skills and knowledge requirements of the roles the qualifications were developed for.

A mix of industry representatives and other mandatory stakeholders took part at each of these levels.  The strategic advisory groups and technical working groups met between April 2012 and August 2012.

In total, nine strategic advisory groups and 12 technical working groups were involved to represent the different sectors within the industry.  The wider sector was given the opportunity to review and provide feedback through the Competenz TRoQ website page and e-mail distribution lists.  The final drafts of the qualifications were endorsed by the strategic advisory groups and signed off by the governance group.

Main changes resulting from the review

11 New Zealand qualifications were developed to replace expiring national qualifications. Six national qualifications were designated expiring without replacement.
