Summary
Unit standard 26974 was reviewed in conjunction with the mandatory review of health, disability and whānau ora qualifications, which resulted from the targeted review of qualifications (TRoQ).
Industry identified the need for a new unit standard for people supporting a person who may have early-stage dementia or may have undiagnosed dementia.
Main change resulting from the review
· The title and outcomes were amended to match with the ‘health and wellbeing setting’ focus of the reviewed set of qualifications.
· Explanatory notes were updated.
· Evidence requirements were amended to provide greater clarity.
· New unit standard 28563 was developed to meet an identified industry need.
