Extension of expiry date of Tikanga Concepts unit standards

NZQA Māori Qualifications Services (MQS) has completed the extension of expiry dates of the unit standards listed above.

Summary

In 2010, unit standards 19624 and 19625 were reviewed and designated Category D expiring as part of a review of standards in the Tikanga subfield.  The unit standards were initially designated to expire on 31 December 2012, but in September 2012 this date was extended to 31 December 2015.

MQS has received a request that the last date for assessment against these unit standards be extended to enable completion of the National Certificate in Māori Management - Generic (Whakangahau ki Te Ao Māori – Workplace Practices) (Level 3) [Ref: 1432] past the end of 2015.  This is because these unit standards form the bulk of credits in Elective A of the qualification (at least one must be achieved to complete the qualification).

The mandatory review of a Māori Business and Management qualification (possibly two qualifications) at Level 3 and/or 4 is currently underway.  The resulting qualification(s) will replace the National Certificate in Māori Management - Generic (Whakangahau ki Te Ao Māori – Workplace Practices) (Level 3) [Ref: 1432].  Extending the last date for assessment for these unit standards maintains the achievability of the national certificate, until it is replaced and discontinued.
