The Infrastructure ITO (Connexis) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications.

Summary

 

The review of the unit standards listed above was part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) for Infrastructure Works. This extensive review was conducted by infrastructure industry Working Groups who concentrated on reviewing unit standards relating to selected qualifications in the TRoQ process. These groups included industry representatives from employers, providers, Rural Contractor’s New Zealand, industry experts.

 

The Working Group for Rural Contracting concentrated on ensuring that the levels and credits were appropriate and that the content of the unit standards was current, relevant, achievable, accurate, and clear. As part of this review, all the unit standards were made available for comment on the Connexis website as well as invitations for submissions sent to key stakeholders; subsequent responses were taken into account by the Working Group and amendments made as appropriate.

 

Main changes

 

·      Titles were amended where necessary to reflect domains and content.

·      Levels and credits were compared for consistency with similar standards and adjusted to better reflect content and notional learning time.

·      Purpose statements were amended as required to reflect changed content.

·      Explanatory notes were updated and their order was made consistent with other standards.

·      Outcomes and evidence requirements, where necessary, were amended to clarify meaning, updated to cover current good practice, and made consistent with similar standards.

·      Range statements were amended where necessary to clarify assessment requirements and updated to cover current industry practice.

·      New unit standards were required to replace out dated outcomes that were no longer relevant.

·      New unit standard 28780 replaces unit standards 19574 and 19562.

·      New unit standard 28781 replaces unit standards 6269, 6270, and 6275.

·      New unit standard 28782 replaces unit standard 6266.

·      New unit standard 28783 replaces unit standards 6277 and 23634.

·      New unit standard 28784 replaces unit standards 6286 and 23632.

·      New unit standard 28785 replaces unit standards 23630 and 23631.

 

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2016
