The next qualification review for the new replacement qualifications is planned to take place during 2020.
The next qualification review date for the revised qualifications (Refs: 1841, 1842 and 1844) is during 2016, as these qualifications have only been updated not reviewed.
Summary of review and consultation process
The review occurred as a result of industry feedback in 2013 that three of the six New Zealand Certificates published on the NZQF in 2012 were not fit for purpose (Refs: 1843, 1845 and 1846). The National Certificates were designated to expire in December 2018 as part of the Mandatory Review of Qualifications in Baking completed in 2012.
This review involved extensive consultation with stakeholders working in the industry and training providers. Consultation included meetings to discuss an appropriate qualification pathway, and the structure and content of the proposed new qualifications.
The expiring National qualifications and three of the existing New Zealand qualifications have been replaced by three New Zealand qualifications, as detailed below. Refs 1841, 1842 and 1844 were updated and published as new versions.
Because no candidates are enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced New Zealand qualifications Refs 1843, 1845 and 1846, these are discontinued immediately. Consequently, no new enrolments will be accepted into Refs 1843, 1845 and 1846, and no transition arrangements apply.
Main changes resulting from the revision
New Zealand Certificate in Baking (Level 3) [Ref:1841]
New Zealand Certificate in Baking (Generalist) (Level 4) [Ref: 1842]
New Zealand Diploma in Baking (Level 5) [Ref: 1844]
Refs 1841, 1842 and 1844 have been updated to reflect the changes made to the:
· education pathways between them and new New Zealand qualifications listed above
· evidence requirements for assuring consistency (formerly the arrangements for managing consistency)
· credit transfer and recognition of prior learning arrangements.
